How Bad is Alcohol?

Our athletes are social beings, and these individuals enjoy alcoholic beverages with friends/family, especially during this holiday season. We must also find a healthy balance for this consumption, while maintaining a focus on preparation for your sport. This compromise begins with an understanding of the effects of alcohol, in relation to sport.

The most serious negative effects of alcohol have only been found with consistent alcohol abuse (>7 drinks per day, most days of the week). While most problems can be avoided by consuming alcohol in moderation, a 2004 study found two to three beers per day was shown to lower Testosterone levels by 6.8 percent during a three-week period.
