Sparta’s cutting edge AI technology helps identify potential injury risks: now available in Charlotte at Novant Health Sports & Performance

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Science used by NFL players is now available to your young athletes — or really anyone just looking to get in shape. The best part, you can find it in the Charlotte area.

Novant Health Sports and Performance Medicine Powered by EXOS is all about training like an athlete, but the workouts are designed for everyone.

“You can walk into a class having sat on a couch for five years, and you’re going to train next to someone who’s probably training for a marathon,” said Erin Hart, the Sports Medicine Program Manager at the Huntersville location.

The facility also has a piece of cutting-edge technology known as the Sparta force plate. It can help you identify potential injury risks, pinpoint imbalances, and even help with personalized workouts. It’s technology used by more than 100 teams across the NFL, NHL and the NBA.

“It takes you through a regiment of tests mainly centered around jumping and balance, as well as a plank test,” said Performance Specialist Ian Rumsey.

The technology can help you figure out where your weaknesses are, and where you’re most likely to sustain injuries.

Once you’ve completed the test, you get a printed sheet summarizing your results and even offering some suggested exercises to help you train and get healthier.

Novant has two facilities, one in Huntersville and the other in Charlotte at the Arboretum. Both have a wealth of classes, youth programs and adult training programs.
