Earthquakes Announce Partnership with Sparta Science

“It is important that our players are healthy and playing their best to give us the opportunity to win. Sparta’s platform helps our staff to put us in a position to be successful which is very important to our organization and goals.”

    – John Doyle, Earthquakes General Manager

March 8, 2016 (SAN JOSE, CA) Sparta Software, Corp. is proud to announce its partnership with its first MLS team and 5th Bay Area organization, the San Jose Earthquakes. Sparta Software will help the team in its continued pursuit of excellence by using a front-line athlete evaluation and performance software, SpartaTrac™. The unique software will allow the Earthquakes to maximize performance by targeting the athlete’s needs, both individually and sport specific, as well as monitor injury risk and player fatigue.

“The Sparta system is helping us make more informed decisions to impact the success of our team. From return to play decisions and physical training loads, we can look at the relationships between physical, psychological, and bio mechanical data that we collect and interpret. These relationships and the Sparta commitment to validity are helping drive our ability to make meaningful recommendations and adjustments to assist achieving the goals of our organization.”

    – Ron Shinault, Head Athletic Trainer

Sparta’s patented software, combined with force plate testing, has become a leading sport performance technology that is being used by collegiate and professional organizations around the world. The Earthquakes will conduct a movement analysis of each athlete to help the team improve overall athletic efficiency, lower injury risk, and increase performance by allowing athletes to produce more power.

Sparta Software, Corp.’s founder, Dr. Phil Wagner, MD, had this to say about the partnership: “We are excited that our first MLS partnership is a local team who is committed to using science and cutting-edge technology to stay competitive. We feel that SpartaTrac™ will help the Earthquakes continue their tradition of excellence by monitoring player health and allowing the coaches to see changes in performance levels and adjust accordingly.”

Since 2009 the Sparta Training Ground, located in the Silicon Valley, has been using force plate technology and powerful analytic software to help professional athletes become healthier, stronger and more mentally connected. The success of the software led to further development, which now allows professional and collegiate organizations (such as; the Golden State Warriors, Colorado Rockies, and University of Kansas) to utilize the technology and data that has been collected over the last 7 years.
